How do I find out if a piece of property has a mortgage on it?

public records search
icantgetenoughconan asked:

I am going through an eviction process, and want to know if the tennants I’m evicting have a mortgage on thier house. Is there a public records search through whic I can find this information?
For the 4th guy down, you misunderstand me. I’m evicting them from my office building, but they wont show up in court and I have no way of getting the money I need. So I’m looking into sueing them to foreclosure on thier home, which is why I need the info. Thanks

    go to the register of deeds at your county offices. they can look up the property and tell you anything.

    look up the title. it’s a public document and should have the information you are looking for.

    Call the court house? Or if it is listed call the realtor they would be able to find out for you.

    There is something wrong with your question. You can not evict a tenant, without being the owner of the property. If you are the owner of the property, then the tenants would not have a mortgage, only you would have a mortgage.
